Our History

It was just a dream, or a vision, or perhaps it was a divine calling that prompted a group of committed folks from Springs Presbyterian Church to devote themselves to building just such a place. So, in 2006 construction of the first home was begun, and in two short years, the building was completed, furnished, and fully paid for. Over the next few years, it became home to nine teenage girls, who benefitted from the skillful guidance of our first houseparents. Over the last ten years, many more children have benefitted from the nurture, instruction, and loving care of this wonderful ministry.

Our Core Values

Christ-Centered

In all that we do, from the care of our children to the operation of our corporation, we will strive to follow the teachings and example of Christ. However, we acknowledge that on our own we can never attain such a goal; but in all things recognize our need for a Savior, and rest in His perfection and intercession for us and the children in our care.

Family Oriented

It is the aim of Covenant Children’s Home to provide each child in our care with the stabilizing influences of a loving family. To that end, we strive to minimize the institutional effect of “group home” living in every practical way; and we will work to establish a family environment in every aspect of our ministry, from the appearance of the buildings to the management of the household.

Committed to Excellence

It is the goal of Covenant Children’s Home to provide a “God Honoring Ministry” that accepts the biblical imperative of good stewardship while striving to maintain a standard of excellence in child care, business acumen, and facility construction and management.

Our Beginnings

A Place to Call Home From Our Chair Riley Smith

Since my last update in the late spring/early summer, we at Covenant Children’s Home (CCH) have been hard at work preparing for children to arrive at our homes. We began by hiring a new Executive Director, Emerson Bolton II, a man of faith who has a special heart for the needs of children in crisis. A family man and father of 3 boys, he knows firsthand what children face in today’s world.

In late summer, we brought back a very special couple to serve as full-time 24/7 houseparents, Curt and Mary Ellen Simmons, and they are now fine-tuning and readying our homes for children. They and their canine assistant bring a seasoned approach to helping our kids develop the skills necessary to become all God intends them to be.

We are seeking further staffing to round out our staff team and need to serve the kids we are soon expecting. If you look around and see our hurting world, and want to join us on this mission, please read on and support us. If you think you might be interested in volunteering, contact us via this website or call us to express that interest. It will take many hands to meet the growing needs of those we serve.

Remember, we are committing ourselves to a more focused group of kids, sibling groups. Only homes like ours can help keep brothers and sisters, numbers 4-6 together and keep them together to prevent additional trauma. Traditional foster homes can rarely take more than 1-3 children. So that’s where we at CCH can contribute. Please join us in this venture and become a partner with Covenant today.
